The information in these policies is not intended to replace requirements of any applicable local, state or national licensing, certifying, or regulatory agency. It is the practitioner’s responsibility to comply with applicable requirements of these entities. ASH practitioners are expected to adhere to the policies below when participating in public events. However, where ASH policy conflicts with local, state or national licensing, certifying, or regulatory agency requirements, the practitioner is to default to the local, state or national licensing, certifying, or regulatory requirements.

Depending on the type of public event and the services a practitioner intends to provide, a licensed healthcare practitioner may have different responsibilities. In an effort to guide the health care practitioner, ASH peer review committees have approved the two policies below.
